Q. What ages do you work with?
A. I find myself working with children ages 2-14 generally. However, at times I have worked with younger and older children. I’m here to help and up for anything.
Q. How are you going to help my family?
A. I help families struggling with a wide variety of issues and no two families are the same. I like to say I’m the girl who is up for a challenge so bring them to me in the classroom and I feel the same with this profession. What I do is listen, observe, and read about what is happening in your home and without judgment write up a plan to provide self control, structure, and routine.
Q. What parenting methods do you recommend?
A. That’s a BIG question. There are a lot of options out there. Each family I work with is unique and their needs and desired outcomes vary. I begin by getting an understanding of the family's challenges, the child’s personality, and the parent’s parenting style. Based on that information, and the child’s age, I walk the parents through the methods I think will be most effective, and then I work with the parents as they choose the best method for their family. We have lots of choices and I’ll give you a choice A and B to choose from.
Q. How do I know if you can really help me?
A. We will have a discovery call on the phone or computer to be sure that it’s a good fit. I will only accept you as a client if I’m confident that I can help you.
Q. How long will it take to see changes in our home?
A. Well that depends on you. If the plan is followed with lots of follow through you will see changes quickly. Also, you can’t be afraid to ask questions of me along the way. For some families it can take more time. Lots of factors play into this with personalities, will power, and follow through.
Q: Do you only work with families local to Kansas City?
A. My Simple and Full Support packages are done through the Phone/FaceTime so we can do those from anywhere.
If you want in-home support at this time, I am staying near KC, but that will be changing in the future. I do travel for speaking engagements.
